According to experts bad golf club is one of the main reasons why golfers do not hit the ball.

Ping golf club is a perfect example of how a good golf club can help the players.

Karsten Solheim was practicing golf and - could not hit the ball. He began to design and experiment his very own putter to play better through it. By 1959 these putter experiments evolved into 1A design and named it “ping” (because of the sound that it was making).

At this moment there are more than 400 patents registered for the ping golf club with very original designs, suited for each and every golfer.

In 1962 the Heel-toe weighting type of ping golf club was granted patent. Basically this design revolutionalized other modern designs of the golf clubs that we have today.

In 1969 the perimeter-weighted, investment-cast iron was created. The perimeter weighting can increase the moment of inertia. That is why when a ball is not struck squarely on the face it makes the club more forgiving. Plus the application of investment casting was done, this is to ensure precise detail and consistency to all of the parts of the ping golf club.

One more patent – this time for the Cushin Selective Filtering Insert. This invention screens out and disperses the unwanted frequencies that can harmfully affect muscle, bone, and connective tissue. Thanks to this very useful invention an average golfer receives less vibration and gets a greater feel on each shot.

As you can see, one of the main reasons why the ping golf club is popular is its innovative and ever-changing design. Every club has serial numbers that are to help you about the type of the club – these numbers are etched on every PING iron.

This is very convenient, because in case there is a need to replace one club - the company has the exact specs to a new club to match your set.

The typical cause of injury at golf course is straining a muscle, because of the golfer not properly limbered the body. A good stretching routine is exactly that can help to prevent these situations.

You need to take care of the three main parts of the body to warm up.

Back and Torso

Bend at the waist and try to touch your toes, hold this position for 20 seconds. You should repeat exercise as many times as you feel necessary to loosen the lower back.

After loosening the lower back, take your golf club and lock it behind your back with your arms. Then start twisting your back from side to side. You should start with small twists, and make then larger as you limber-up.

And finally, grab each end of the club and place it behind your neck. This is how you start making shoulder turns. Twisting is similar to the previous exercise, but starts to loosen the shoulders and arms.

Arms and Shoulders

Take your left hand and lift it over and behind your left shoulder, then take your right hand, place it behind your back – interlock your hands together. Hold this stretch for 20 seconds and then switch hands. You should do this as many times as you feel necessary until the desired flexibility in the shoulders is gained.

To loosen your hands and wrists you should take two clubs in your hands, and then waggle the cubs from side to side. After that move the clubs up and down, and then all around. This exercise is also great to loose your fingers.

Legs

Loosing the hips. Lie on the ground, lock hands behind one of your knees, and pull that knee toward your chest. Hold the stretch for 20 seconds, then release it and switch legs.

Sit up on the ground, spread your legs apart, and reach out in front of you with your hands. This exercise is aimed at stretching your hamstrings. Hold this stretch for 20 seconds and repeat as necessary.

Ok, you are ready for the game! Good luck at the course!!

When a golfer is in tricky situations - in a bunker, behind a tree, in thick brush, in deep rough – the golfer needs to recover from this nasty situation.

Don’t worry – there are ways out. Read them here.

The basic idea is to know what you can and cannot do with a specific shot.

Being off the fairway and behind a tree – hit a low hook or a cut around the obstruction. To do this, you should use normal golf setup, but with a wider stance, slightly wider. Make sure that you have aligned your body to the side of the obstacle and slightly turn the club in your hand; this will cause the clubface to make contact with the ball in the direction that you need.

The greenside bunker. This shot is differentl from a normal sand shot: the clubface not that opened, the body in a more natural golf swing stance, plus the shot goes with a forceful swing and finished with a high follow-through.

The buried sand shot (also known as “fried egg”) is like this - you get under the ball, choose an area to for the clubface to enter the sand may be about two inches behind the ball. Then you make forceful, downward swing, with a lot of power in your push hand. Thanks to the angle and force of this swing there is no much follow through on your swing and less sand flying out with the ball. So, the ball will have virtually no spin on it.

Golf course victory is about many factors, but at the end of the day, it is about eighteen greens that you putt to impact on your scorecard.

You can become a better putter through developing a consistent putting stroke. By the way, putting is one of the few shots that do not change significantly based on distance and ball lie. You can practice your putting virtually anywhere: on the course, on a practice putting green, on a practice turf mat, or even on the carpet.

Professional putts look like this – a golfer stills over the ball, and head does not move. If you have problems with keeping still – lean your head against a wall while you take some putting strokes; this is a nice drill for the stillness.

One of the putting drills is the game “golf ball bocce” and you can play it at home. Take out 5-6 golf balls, including a colored ball. Putt the colored ball a distance away from you, and then try to hit the colored ball with the other white balls. This type of drill helps to gauge speed and distance on flat surfaces.

Another good putting drill is played on a practice green. Take 4 golf balls and place them at equal distances around the hole (you can start at three feet away). Putt around the hole from the same distance until you can sink all four balls from the various points surrounding the hole.

As you can see there are plenty of ways to practice your putt, but in any case it is vitally important to do so. As much as you can. Successful putting will add a lot to your future victories on the golf course.

Though many golfers think that putter is more important in the game of golf (because of more strokes at a course) , still the driver has a tremendously big impact. The point it simple – in case you are able to get off the tee box long and accurately, your chances to shoot a low score on a given hole increase greatly.

Let’s sum up the most important tips for the successful hit of the driver.

When you are setting up to hit the driver, remember the following. The feet slightly wider apart than normal; outside of the tips of your shoulders. Your back foot is perpendicular to the swing line. That is why when hitting the driver (as your feet are wider) you can feel to to turn the back to outward slightly, so that some of the stress is taken off the back knee.

Basically the back swing should be similar to any other club. Don’t take the club back faster, because increasing the tempo of your back swing can throw of many other important and crucial elements of the golf swing. And generated the club head speed on the downswing.

Stay “on” or “over the ball when you take back the club on your back swing. It is prohibited for your hips to slide backwards with the club; they should turn, not slide. Your front foot stays on the ground during the back swing.

The club is taken back straight and away, causing a wide arc. But do not forget to stay over the ball. You can do that by shifting the weight to the back foot without sliding the body.

The setup and back swing make up the ultimate list of elements that should be changed between using the driver and other shots. Other issues – like shoulders turn further, chin tucks into chin deeper, down swing is faster – take place, but they take place automatically, if you do everything mentioned above the proper way.

For more tips on other clubs and shots, read the posts of this blog. We have published the best blogging tips for you.

A shot from a sand bunker is a very tough task. It seems obvious that you just need to hit slightly behind the ball and take some sand. But this is the visible simplicity, because a successful sand save if about lot more actions.

We decided to publish a short guide to making the bunker shots the proper way.

First of all, you need to open your stance and dig feet into the sand a little. The ball is placed forward in your golf stance – this is done to cause a higher trajectory after the ball is struck.

Then you open the clubface to flatten it out a little to make sure that the clubface slices through the sand. The grip is looser than the normal golf swing, but at the same moment firm enough that the club does not turn upon impact with the sand. This weaker grip is important because you should not turn the clubface inward on your swing and close it when you make contact.

During the golf swing keep the body still and use just your arms, especially wrists. Remember that a powerful shot is not needed here. And a full wrist cock at the top of the back swing will help you bring the club through on the downswing.

Right-handed golfers: your left hand should be used to steady the club and the right hand to apply force to the swing. This type of motion occurs naturally if you are using the full wrist cock discussed earlier. After the contact with the sand, the right hand continues to push through with a nice, high follow-through.

If everything is done like explained, by this time the ball is already coming out with a fair amount of sand!

Do not make one of the typical mistakes – chopping down on the ball. When you are chopping onto the ball, the angle of the club strikes the sand as such to where enough sand is not lifted from the bunker to help propel the ball forward.

As you can see, there is a safe strategy to help you with golf bunker shots. But, of course, this strategy needs practise – only then you will be able to show good results of saving yourself from sand bunker.

After some measurements done you will see that most golf courses are about four miles in length. And an even bigger distance is walked by the golfer who is not always successful and scores without mistakes.

Until 1960’s, most golf courses were played exclusively on foot. More fortunate golfers had caddies to carry the players’ clubs.

But in 1962 Merlin L. Halvorson invented the first self-propelled golf car. And this was the beginning of a new age. In the 60’s the technology gave a start to what we know today as a modern golf cart. These cars were built with gasoline motors and could transport two golfers with their golf clubs. The biggest manufacturers at that time were E-Z-GO, Pargo, Harley Davidson and Cushman.

The body frames, undercarriage and suspensions are very close to the modern automobiles. The treads changed and designed in a way that the cart may be driving on grass and not damage the turf on a golf course. Controls are – a modern steering wheel, accelerator and brake. Plus many accessories like straps to secure the golf bags, a basket (for towels, balls, coolers, etc), cup holders, ball compartments and holes that golfers can slide a few extra golf tees into.

Today golf carts are manufactured with electric, battery powered motors – because this is more trendy for the rich people to look "green educated" and do like they say. Batteries are rechargeable and one charge is enough to last through several days and rounds of golf. As the business was changing, today they largest manufacturers of golf cars include: Ingersoll Rand (Club Car), E-Z-Go and Yamaha.

A good set of golf clubs is the true weapon for every golfer – experienced or beginner.

A complete set of clubs consists of woods, irons and a putter. Golfer’s bag may hold 14 clubs. Let’s talk in more details about the crucial items.

A driver is a long-shafted club with a full head. It is used to strike the ball that is set upon a tee. This club head does not have much lift to it, this is done to achieve maximum distance off the tee. The fairway woods have club heads that are slightly more lofted than the driver. Theseare used for the purpose of long shots when the ball is lying on the ground. The price range here is between $200 and $400. And for fairway woods – from $150 to $300.

Golf irons make up the essence of a set of golf clubs. Two thirds of the shots in a normal round of golf go with the iron. Irons are used for hitting the golf ball off the ground to send it futher on for the distances of 125 yards to 225 yards. Each iron has its own number based upon the loft angle of the club head. For example, the 9-iron has the most loft; it is used to hit short, high shots. And a 2-iron has very little loft, this "feature" is used to hit low, long shorts.

Wedges are typically added to the package of a set of irons. Among the most common wedges we can mention: the pitching wedge, the sand wedge and the lob wedge. This type of golf clubs is used for short, controlled shots. It is also worth of attention that two primary types of irons are available. Forged irons are precision clubs and they professional golfers a greater ability to shape a shot. Cavity-back irons are more forgiving; they have a larger sweet spot and are used by golfers who want to focus on hitting straight shots. A set of 10 irons can is from $250 to $1,500.

The final and very important golf club is the putter (also known as “money club”). The purpose of the putter is to roll the ball, so there is no loft on the club head. Putters can cost from $20 to $300.
